Paul Augustinus, Airlife/Acorn Books, 1991 (ISBN 1-874802-08-4 Standard edition : ISBN 1-874802-09-2 Collectors’ edition). An image of the cover of the Paul Augustinus book - Desert Adventure, which has elephants crossing a track in the bed of the Hoanib River Autobiographical account of journeys undertaken by African wildlife and landscape artist Paul Augustinus in 1990 through Namibia and Botswana returning to areas he had lived in, in the late 1970s, and also to new areas to him in search of desert rhino, elephant and lion. The book's extensive text is fully illustrated with many Paul Augustinus paintings, sketches and photographs. The areas covered by this book are Damaraland, the Skeleton Coast, the Namib Desert, Sossus Vlei, Swakopmund, Walvis, Etosha, the Kunene River Mouth, the Hoanib River, the Hoarsuib River, the Okavango, Moremi, Jau, Savuti, Linyanti, Maun, Ngwezumba, the Chobe River and Kasane. It describes an era now long gone in these places when rules and regulations were not like they are now, when there was much more freedom and many fewer people to spoil the wilderness experience.
