Since 1990 I have used a Nizzo Super 8mm movie camera, as well as Sony TR850 and PC 330E camcorders to create guerrilla style documentaries as an artists record of some iconic adventures. Professionally produced, these videos are windows into the past and depict a freedom that was available in a different era to those who were happy to take a few risks.
Ndoki - A Rainforest journey: 1996
Ndoki was my Everest! It was the pinnacle of my experience of Africa and wilderness. I had never seen anything like it before and have not experienced anything similar since then. I am so thankful that Clarissa and I had the strength and health to take the risks that we did. But it was worth it. Much of the video footage I took lay mouldering in a shoe box for decades until I unearthed the tapes in 2016. This new documentary tells a gritty tale of art, exotic rainforest wildlife, a Paul Augustinus painting, adventure and wilderness deep in the heart of the rainforest of the Congo.
