THE VIDEO ARCHIVE

image of a Nizo super 8 camera

Since 1990 I have used a Nizzo Super 8mm movie camera, as well as Sony TR850 and PC 330E camcorders to create guerrilla style documentaries as an artists record of some iconic adventures. Professionally produced, these videos are windows into the past and depict a freedom that was available in a different era to those who were happy to take a few risks.

Langoue Artist, Gabon: 2003

.

In 2003, Clarissa and I made our fifth and final journey into the rain forests of Central Africa. This was to Langoue in North East Gabon. Truly pristine, we were very privileged to spend a couple of weeks on our own atop a platform adjacent to the bai. We were very lucky to witness a passing parade of normally secretive rainforest wildlife. The journey was about getting painting ideas and material for future works, but it was also an adventure which we knew from experience would be completely different from what we had planned to do. Thats how things turn out in Central Africa! This video tells that story.
