'The floodplain streams slowly dry up'

'San ta Wani is in the Gomoti river and floodplain area of the Okavango, to the south of Moremi. I spent many months here in the 1980s when this was a hot spot for truly huge lions with magnificent manes. By October the country here really gets dry and burnt out and the floodplain streams slowly dry up. Of course this meant that all the wildlife of the region became more concentrated around the remaining water sources. A big plus was that back then you camped where you wanted in this whole region and that you could have a really quality wilderness experience all by your self and within two hours driving distance from Maun.'
