'When I was at school in Mombasa holidays and weekends were spent in the relatively nearby Tsavo West National park staying at one of the Kitani bandas. Rhino were so common in Tsavo that one groaned inwardly when you came across them next to the road (and had to wait for them to move before you could pass.) They were almost considered a pest in certain areas. Forty years later the opposite is true. They are now so rare that when you see one it is the highlight of your safari. That's why Etosha and other parts of Namibia is so special to me. In some areas of the country black rhino can be found if you put your mind to it. In Etosha they are common!
