'The finest and most relaxing safari I have ever experienced was on the epic and adventurous journey Clarissa and I made to to the Iguela Coast in Gabon. I wanted to see the wildlife that came out from the rainforest on to the beach. Like every Equatorial rainforest journey that Clarissa and I have ever planned and executed we now know that the actual trip never turns out according to any plan you might have made. So it was with this trip. What we had arranged morphed into a spectacular experience that I could have never envisaged! We ended up building our own camp on the beach at Lourie and for several weeks we had what I can only describe as our first-ever holiday. At least that's how it felt to us camped a few meters away from the warm surf. We swam, sunbathed and walked up and down the beach looking for the very visible wildlife which occurred in abundance. This painting of forest elephants is based on a beautiful bend in the coastline a few kilometers walk up the beach from our camp. We saw many elephants browsing for fruit in the vegetation on the shelf above the beach. What a fantastic place!'
