ARTIST: Paul Augustinus
TITLE: Harvest Moon
SIZE: 120cm x 180cm
Oil on Canvas
'I'm very thankful I have been so fortunate to have seen and experienced the natural world and all it's surprises. I'm also very thankful that my mother was so determined that I should get a University degree of some kind. Because if she hadn't I would just be a scientifically ignorant artist. I did physics, maths, chemistry and statistics for my degree in geology and by doing so I was given the knowledge to look at the natural world and understand how it worked. The harvest moon phenomena (when the full moon rises with the sun just setting) is pretty but when you understand the Newtonian physics, statistics and the laws of optics it becomes something vastly more beautiful. This painting is my celebration of the wonders of the Universe and our mysterious world.'
