'The central part of islands in the Okavango all have a small pan or clearing of calcrete dust - very saline soil that is white and dusty. This painting is of a very remote nameless island in the Jau area that my wife Clarissa and I were crossing on foot when we came across this magnificent Botswana elephant bull. We were just as surprised as the elephant was when we bumped into each other.
