'The Zambezi River above the Falls in Zimbabwe is a place that I got to know during school holidays at in the second half of the 1960s. My mother would take us by train to the Victoria Falls and we would stay at the well run and incredibly cheap municipal camp in the Village. It was a short walk down the road to the Falls. But upstream of the Falls there was a path that followed the river that went several kilometers through beautiful riverine forest where bushbuck, water-buck,kudu and warthog were common. Sometimes one saw elephants crossing from the Zambian side to the Zimbabwean side although they kept close to the riverine forest because just inland was the new golf course where elephants were actively discouraged from going to by trenches and fences.'
