Painting in the bungalow
Paul Augustinus working of the Etosha painting in one of the rest camp bungalows at Okaukuejo in Etosha, Namibia
'I was constantly being disturbed!

'I painted this work in the tiny front room of one of Okaukuejo Camp bungalows right next to the waterhole in Etosha, Namibia. We booked one of these comfortable, but old-fashioned bungalows for several weeks in the 1990s so we could fully explore the potential of this particular place for daily lion chases that could be seen from our veranda. The painting took me several weeks because my attention was constantly disturbed by lions coming down to the waterhole and hiding themselves in one of the bushes on the other side of the water while they waited for prey. When that happened all painting activity by me halted and I headed outside to see what would happen. For more about this click HERE.'
