'Etosha in Namibia is a very unique National Park. The scenery is similar to that of the Makgadikgadi Pans in Botswana. No wildlife exists out on the salt flats but there is abundant wildlife in the peripheral areas of mopane and acacia thorn scrub along the shorelines of these pans. In Etosha it is very easy to see this wildlife, which is not the case in the Makgadikgadi! Etosha has been a tourist hot spot since the 1960s because of its spectacular wildlife opportunities. But along with the trappings of government run rest camps there are rules and regulations here. Not the kind of thing that excites me -BUT! Like Ngorongoro in Tanzania this place is still worth visiting in spite of it's theme park and nanny state credentials. You will find no room to be adventurous here but you will see spectacular numbers of wild animals in very interesting desert like scenery. Okondeka spring on the edge of the pan was my favorite place to see game such as cheetah, rhino and lion in Etosha.'
