'The main road to Kasane from Ngoma was a track that ran along the edge of the high sand ridge just to the south of the Chobe River in Botswana. It was the route you used when you wanted to quickly get to Kasane from Serondella without having to worry about running into a traffic jam of safari vehicles watching something interesting up ahead. Up on the ridge you were more likely to get stuck in a dust cloud behind a truck as it rattled it's way slowly towards Kasane over the hellish corrugations of this track. However as much as I liked this route because it tended to deliver surprise sightings and the view down on to the floodplains below are spectacular - the lower track along Watercart Drive was much more productive. This painting of Rollers is based on a very tame pair of rollers that nested in a dead tree next to this track for several years in a row.'
